Unazuki is the largest onsen town in Toyama and the operational base for the Kurobe Gorge Railway — a converted construction-trolley line built in 1937 to carry workers building Japan's most ambitious hydroelectric dam. The 1h 20min one-way ride through 41 tunnels and 22 bridges, mostly with open-sided carriages, is one of Japan's most thrilling scenic train experiences. Unazuki's spring water is piped 7 km from Kuronagi Onsen upstream — exceptionally pure alkaline simple water. Modern ryokan and hotels line the Kurobe River. From Tokyo: Hokuriku Shinkansen to Kurobe-Unazuki Onsen station, then 25 min by local train.

宇奈月温泉は富山県最大の温泉地で、名物・黒部峡谷鉄道（トロッコ電車）の玄関口。1937年、日本最大級の黒部ダム建設のために掘削された工事用トロッコを観光化したもので、片道1時間20分・41のトンネル・22の橋を窓のないオープン車両で走破します。湯は7km上流の黒薙温泉から引湯した極めて純度の高いアルカリ性単純温泉。黒部川沿いに近代的な旅館・ホテルが並びます。東京から北陸新幹線で黒部宇奈月温泉駅、地方電車で25分。

黒部峡谷の一軒宿、トロッコでしか行けない秘湯

Kuronagi is one of Japan's most legendary "hikyo" (hidden hot springs) — a single ryokan deep in the Kurobe Gorge, reached only by the Kurobe Gorge Railway (alighting at Kuronagi Station) and a 20-minute mountain trail (June–November only). Its large riverside open-air bath is one of the most photographed onsen vistas in Japan, with the Kurobe River roaring just a meter away. The 96°C spring also supplies Unazuki Onsen downstream via one of Japan's longest hot spring pipelines. The single ryokan (Kuronagi-yu Ryokan) has welcomed bathers since 1868. No same-day day-use during peak season — reservations essential.

富山湾の絶景と寒鰤の街

Himi is a fishing town on Toyama Bay famous for two things: "kanburi" — the winter yellowtail (buri) caught in the cold Toyama Bay that has been called "Japan's finest" since Edo times — and the dramatic view of the Tateyama alpine range rising 3,000m above the bay on clear winter mornings. The "Tateyama Across the Sea" view — 3,000m mountains rising directly above the sea — is a rare sight worldwide, often likened to Mt. Cook in New Zealand. Himi Onsen-go was developed in the 1990s along the coast, with ryokan offering both views and seafood-rich kaiseki. From Kanazawa: about 1h by Shinkansen to Shin-Takaoka, then the JR line via Takaoka.

氷見市は富山湾の漁師町で、二つの名物で全国的に知られます——冬の「寒鰤（かんぶり）」（江戸時代から「日本一の鰤」と称される）と、湾越しに3000m級の立山連峰がそびえる絶景。「海越しの立山連峰」と呼ばれるこの光景は、ニュージーランドのマウントクックなどに例えられる世界でも希少な絶景です。氷見温泉郷は1990年代に海岸沿いに開発され、絶景と魚介づくしの料理が両立する旅館が並びます。金沢から高岡乗換で約1時間。

立山連峰を望む巨大露天の名物リゾート温泉

Kanetaro Onsen is one of Toyama's most recognized destination hotels — a single sprawling resort property in the foothills of the Tateyama Alps, named after the legendary boy-hero "Kintaro." The defining feature is the enormous "Ryujin no Yu" stone-built open-air bath, with views toward the 3,000m Tateyama peaks. Shogawa Gorge sightseeing boat + Gokayama UNESCO villages

庄川峡遊覧船と五箇山合掌集落の麓

Shogawa is a quieter onsen district along the wild Shogawa River in southwest Toyama, framed by deep mountain ridges. The signature experience is the Shogawa Gorge Sightseeing Boat — a 30-min cruise through a steep-sided dammed reservoir that's spectacular in foliage season. The sulfate-type springs feed several riverside ryokan, and the gorge's most famous bath — Omaki Onsen — can be reached only by the sightseeing boat. 30 min upstream lies Gokayama — the smaller, less-touristed UNESCO World Heritage village of "gassho-zukuri" steep-thatched farmhouses (Shirakawa-go's sister site). From Shin-Takaoka Station: 25 min by bus.

庄川温泉郷は富山県西部、庄川（しょうがわ）の渓谷沿いに広がる静かな温泉地。最大の見どころは「庄川峡遊覧船」——両岸が切り立つ渓谷ダム湖を30分巡るクルーズで、紅葉期は絶景です。硫酸塩泉の宿が川沿いに点在し、なかでも遊覧船でしか行けない秘湯「大牧温泉」が有名。30分上流には五箇山——白川郷の姉妹・世界遺産の合掌造り集落（白川郷より小さく観光客少ない）があり、組合せ訪問が定番。新高岡駅からバス25分。
