Iya Onsen (specifically "Iya Onsen Hotel") is the legendary mountain ryokan where the most dramatic bath experience in Japan unfolds: guests board a 170m-vertical private cable car at the hotel level, descending steeply into the Iya Valley gorge to reach a riverside open-air bath beside the rushing Iya River. The hotel itself sits at the top, perched on cliff edge. The cable car runs every 30 min, free for hotel guests, ¥1,700 for day visitors. The hot spring is alkaline simple, naturally 39°C from a deep aquifer. Beyond the cable car bath, Iya Onsen offers traditional ryokan rooms, kaiseki dinners featuring "amago" mountain fish, and access to the famous "Kazura-bashi" vine bridge 30 min away. Naruto Onsen lies on the coast of Naruto City, facing the famous Naruto Strait — the narrow channel between Shikoku and Awaji Island where the tide creates some of the world's largest natural whirlpools. The whirlpools are visible from the Onaruto Bridge promenade ("Uzu no Michi" glass-floor walkway, ¥510) and sightseeing boats. Several ryokan along the coast offer baths with Naruto Strait views. The hot spring is sodium chloride type. Combined with Otsuka Museum of Art (massive ceramic reproductions of Western masterpieces) makes Naruto a uniquely full-day destination.

鳴門温泉は鳴門市の海岸に位置し、四国と淡路島の間の鳴門海峡——潮流が世界最大級の天然渦潮を生み出す名所——を望みます。渦潮は大鳴門橋遊歩道「渦の道」（ガラス床、510円）と観光遊覧船から見学可能。海岸沿いの複数の旅館で鳴門海峡を望む湯。湯は塩化物泉。世界の名画を陶板で原寸再現する「大塚国際美術館」と組合せて、稀有なフルデー観光地に。

Awa-Ikeda is the strategic transportation hub of western Tokushima — where the JR Dosan Line splits to either Kochi or Tokushima City. The town serves as the practical gateway to Iya Valley and Oboke gorge for travelers coming from northern Shikoku or Honshu. Awa-Ikeda Onsen developed around 1990 with modern hotel-style ryokan. The town's cultural heart is the Awa Odori — the legendary 400-year-old summer dance festival (August 12–15, when 1.3 million visitors descend on Tokushima City). Awa-Ikeda hosts smaller satellite dance events. From Okayama: 1h 30min by JR Limited Express Nanpu.

阿波池田は徳島西部の交通要衝——JR土讃線が高知方面と徳島市方面に分岐する駅町。北四国・本州から来る旅客にとっての祖谷・大歩危渓谷の実用的な玄関口。阿波池田温泉は1990年頃近代的なホテル型旅館として整備されました。文化的中心は400年続く阿波踊り（8月12〜15日、徳島市に130万人が押し寄せる伝統夏祭り）。阿波池田は小規模衛星イベント開催地。岡山から特急南風で1時間30分。

"Hotel Kazura-bashi" — private cable to mountain-top open-air

Shin-Iya Onsen (also known by its flagship "Hotel Kazura-bashi") is the second ryokan in Iya Valley with a private cable car — but the direction is reversed compared to Iya Onsen. Here, guests ride a 250m cable car UP to a mountain-top outdoor bath at 850m elevation, with panoramic views of the entire Iya Valley spread below. Each bath has 4 individual open-air pools surrounded by ancient trees. The hotel is located near the more accessible "Iya Kazura-bashi" vine bridge (40m long, 14m drop over the gorge) — the most famous vine bridge in Japan, designated National Important Folk Cultural Property. From Oboke: 30 min by shuttle.

新祖谷温泉（ホテルかずら橋）は祖谷渓で2番目に専用ケーブルを持つ宿——ただし祖谷温泉とは方向逆。ここでは客がケーブルカーで250m「上昇」して標高850mの山頂露天風呂に到達し、祖谷渓全体を眼下に望む大パノラマを楽しみます。露天は4つの個別湯船が古木に囲まれ配置。ホテルは観光客が最もアクセスしやすい「祖谷のかずら橋」（長さ40m、谷底まで14m落差、日本最有名の蔓橋、国指定重要有形民俗文化財）の近郊に位置します。大歩危から送迎30分。
