Ureshino Onsen is celebrated as one of "Japan's Three Great Beauty-Skin Springs." Its sodium-bicarbonate water has a notably silky, slippery texture that dissolves surface skin oils and is traditionally said to leave skin smooth and bright. The town stretches along the Ureshino River with about 30 ryokan and a popular footbath. Ureshino is also a famous green-tea region ("Ureshino-cha," a rare rolled-leaf "tamaryokucha"), and you'll find tea-themed baths and sweets. The "Siebold-no-Yu" public bath honors the German doctor who praised the waters in the 1800s. From Fukuoka: 80 min by highway bus; the Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen reaches nearby Ureshino-Onsen Station.

嬉野温泉は「日本三大美肌の湯」として名高い温泉です。重曹泉（炭酸水素塩泉）は際立って絹のようなぬめりがあり、肌の表面の皮脂を落として滑らかで明るい肌にするとされてきました。嬉野川沿いに約30軒の旅館と人気の足湯が並びます。嬉野は有名な緑茶の産地（珍しい玉緑茶「うれしの茶」）でもあり、茶をテーマにした湯やお菓子も。共同浴場「シーボルトの湯」は、1800年代にこの湯を讃えたドイツ人医師にちなみます。福岡から高速バスで80分。西九州新幹線で近くの嬉野温泉駅へ。

Takeo Onsen has 1,300 years of recorded history (mentioned in the 8th-century Hizen Fudoki) and was beloved by warlords including Toyotomi Hideyoshi, whose troops bathed here. Its symbol is the striking vermilion "Romon" gate (1915), designed by Tatsuno Kingo — the architect of Tokyo Station — and a designated Important Cultural Property. Behind it, the historic public baths include the "Tonosama-yu," a private bath once reserved for the lord. The town also holds a 3,000-year-old sacred camphor tree (one of Japan's oldest) and the photogenic, design-forward Takeo City Library. About 15 ryokan. 武雄温泉は1300年の記録（8世紀「肥前国風土記」に記載）を持ち、豊臣秀吉ら武将に愛され、その軍勢も湯に浸かりました。象徴は印象的な朱塗りの「楼門」（1915年）——東京駅の設計者・辰野金吾が手がけ、重要文化財に指定。その奥の歴史的な共同浴場には、かつて殿様専用だった貸切「殿様湯」も。樹齢3000年の御神木の大楠（日本最古級）や、デザインで話題の武雄市図書館もあります。約15軒の旅館。福岡から70分。西九州新幹線が武雄温泉駅に停車。

珍しい「ぬる湯」、佐賀の奥座敷

Furuyu Onsen, in the mountains north of Saga City, is known for its rare cool "nuru-yu" spring (around 38°C) — a temperature close to body heat that allows for very long, deeply relaxing soaks. Origin legend ties it to the warrior Xu Fu over 2,000 years ago. The poet Saito Mokichi stayed and wrote here. The quiet valley setting along the Kase River, with about 10 ryokan, draws those seeking a calm, literary, slow-soak retreat. Nearby Kumanokawa Onsen adds radon springs. Karatsu sits on a scenic stretch of the Genkai Sea coast, framed by Karatsu Castle (the "Maizuru Castle") and the 4.5 km "Niji-no-Matsubara" — a designated "Special Place of Scenic Beauty" pine grove of about a million trees. The onsen here is a sodium chloride coastal spring. The town is famous for "Karatsu-yaki" pottery and the spectacular "Karatsu Kunchi" autumn festival (Nov 2–4, UNESCO-listed), when giant lacquered float-figures parade through town. 古湯の隣、静かな川沿いのラドン泉

Kumanokawa Onsen lies just downstream from Furuyu along the Kase River — a quiet, small onsen hamlet known for radon-bearing, mildly warm waters. Like its neighbor, it traces an origin legend to Kobo Daishi. The setting is rural and calm, with a handful of ryokan and a public bath, popular for relaxed "yuji"-style stays and as a base for the Kase River valley and Kitayama Dam scenery. It pairs naturally with Furuyu for a two-spring quiet-valley itinerary. From Saga City: 35 min by bus.

熊の川温泉は嘉瀬川沿い、古湯のすぐ下流にある静かで小さな温泉集落で、ラドンを含むほどよい温かさの湯で知られます。隣の古湯と同じく弘法大師の開湯伝説を持ちます。のどかで落ち着いた佇まいで、数軒の旅館と共同浴場があり、ゆったりした「湯治」風の滞在や、嘉瀬川渓谷・北山ダムの景観の拠点として親しまれます。古湯と組合せて二湯の静かな谷の旅に。佐賀市からバスで35分。
