Wakura is a small bay-side onsen town on the Noto Peninsula, but its name is world-famous in hospitality circles because of one ryokan: Kagaya, voted "Japan's #1 ryokan" in the prestigious annual industry survey for a remarkable 36-year streak. The town's unusual hot spring rises from the sea bottom (1,200-year origin legend) — high-salt waters around 90°C, said to be "good for fatigue and chronic conditions." Several major ryokan surround the bay. From Kanazawa, about 1h by the Nanao Line through coastal scenery.

Yamashiro Onsen has 1,300 years of history — discovered in 725 AD by the Buddhist monk Gyoki, who saw a crow healing its wounds in the spring. The town's defining feature is "Kosoyu" — a reconstructed Meiji-era public bathhouse with stained glass windows, painted tile floors, and an open-air rooftop bath — at the geographic center of the village. Famed potter and aesthete Kitaoji Rosanjin lived and worked here in the early 20th century, leaving a museum and a refined ceramic culture. Nearby villas of Hokuriku's wealthy industrialists preserve early Showa modernist architecture.

山代温泉は725年、僧・行基が傷を癒すカラスを見て発見したと伝わる1300年の名湯。中心の「古総湯」は明治時代の共同浴場を復元した建物で、ステンドグラス窓・タイル絵・屋上の屋外湯を備える贅沢空間。北大路魯山人が大正期にこの地に住み、芸術家村として知られました（現在「魯山人寓居跡いろは草庵」として保存）。周辺には北陸財界人の別荘建築が残り、昭和初期モダニズムを伝えます。

鶴仙渓を歩く湯、芭蕉が「扶桑の三名湯」と讃えた地

Yamanaka winds along the dramatic Kakusenkei Gorge (1.3 km riverside walking trail) — Matsuo Basho stayed here on his "Narrow Road to the Deep North" journey in 1689 and praised it as one of Japan's "three great spring waters." The town's "Kikunoyu" public bathhouse stands as split men's and women's buildings facing each other across a plaza, beside the Yamanaka-za theater of local performing arts. The famed "Korogi Bridge" (Cricket Bridge) and Ayatori Bridge frame the gorge's riverside paths. Local lacquerware "Yamanaka-shikki" carries 400 years of craft tradition.

山中温泉は風光明媚な鶴仙渓沿いに広がります（1.3kmの渓谷遊歩道）。1689年、松尾芭蕉が「奥の細道」の旅でここに逗留し「扶桑の三名湯」と讃えました。中心の共同浴場「菊の湯」は男女別棟が広場を挟んで向き合う総湯で、隣接の「山中座」では山中節など加賀の伝統芸能も楽しめます。「こおろぎ橋」「あやとりはし」は渓谷沿いの絶景スポット。「山中漆器」の400年の伝統工芸も今に伝わります。

柴山潟「七つの色」と霊峰白山ビュー

Katayamazu is the youngest of the Kaga Onsen-go quartet (discovered 1653 by a hunter — the spring bubbles up directly through Lake Shibayama). The signature view is the lake itself, which famously "changes color seven times a day" depending on light and weather. The far shore frames Mt. Hakusan — one of Japan's three sacred mountains. The contemporary "Sou-yu" public bathhouse, designed by architect Yoshio Taniguchi in 2012, features panoramic lakeside glass walls. Lake fountain displays mid-day add to the atmosphere.

片山津温泉は加賀温泉郷4湯の中で最も新しく、1653年に猟師が発見した湯——柴山潟の湖底から直接湧出します。最大の見どころは湖そのもの。光と天気で「一日に七度色を変える湖」と呼ばれる神秘的な風景。湖の対岸には日本三霊山の一つ・霊峰白山がそびえます。谷口吉生設計の現代建築「総湯」（2012年）はガラス張りで湖を一望できます。湖中央の噴水ショーも名物。

Awazu is the oldest of Kaga's four hot springs — founded in 718 AD when Buddhist monk Taicho discovered the waters. The town is the home of "Hoshi Ryokan," recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's 2nd-oldest continuously-operating hotel (1,300+ years, family-run for 46 generations). The hot spring quality is the gentlest of the Kaga-go — soft, calcium-rich waters that wrap the skin. The town today preserves a quieter, less-developed pace compared to its three sister onsen, making it the favorite among onsen connoisseurs who value continuity over commerce.

粟津温泉は加賀4湯で最古、718年に泰澄大師が発見した湯。世界最古級の旅館「法師」（46代続く家族経営、ギネス世界記録「世界2位の歴史を持つ宿」）の本拠地です。湯はカルシウムが豊富で柔らかく、肌を包む優しさが特徴。観光化が進んだ他の3湯と比べて素朴で穏やかな温泉街の佇まいを残し、温泉通から「商業より連続性を選ぶ街」として愛されます。
